Square restaurant website is a finalist in the DotNetNuke community choice awards 2010!

Ooooo check us out ;)  it’s nice to see one of our websites as a finalist for the DotNetNuke community choice awards 2010.  Powered by DotNetNuke, The Square Restaurant website allows the editors easily modify their menu on a daily basis, whether it’s a quick tweak on WYSIWYG editor or a simply pasting the menu from Microsoft Word.

On a personal note it’s one of the neatest sites I’ve built, much of the work was done on the front-end, with effective use CSS and Javascript (jQuery library for the most) to not only to build the great design but to also ensure the back end was as easy to use as possible.

Please vote for the Square Restaurant website by going to the DotNetNuke website and registering.

Fish and Chip Design website is now live

So I’ve built another website using DotNetNuke, this time it was a personal project for a designer I know.

The site is Fish and Chip Design, and the owner simply needed a site to list the services he has to offer, there’s a strong use of images on this site.  The full screen effect works nicely  too.

I’ve entered it for the DotNetNuke community choice awards 2010 in the most creative / original category!

Destiny Ekaragha’s Tight Jeans

TIGHT JEANS – A short Film Written and Directed by Destiny Ekaragha (Pollibee Pictures) is a comedy based in set in a London council estate sets a scene of three black youths having a conversation triggered by a white male walking past in skinny jeans.  Not too be taking too seriously!  But it’s damn funny, and does remind you of the days when you used to chat a lot of shit!

I’ve known Destiny throughout my life and it’s great seeing her work out there getting the recognition she deserves, real happy for you! :)

I love the Three Network Advertising Campaign

I know it’s months old now, but I recently drove past a couple of billboards by Tooting.

Seriously love em, it’s got that summer time action movie feel.  And it’s witty in a way, starring “Google Facebook eBay” the big brands that many people can relate to. I always used to wonder what a trailer would look like, turns out I missed the trailer style advert all this time, though it’s not quite as exciting as I pictured it in my mind it was still a laugh.

Glue London were responsible for this campaign.  It’s not often I’d admit to being lured in by advertising campaigns, and I can’t necessarily see myself switching to Three Network any time soon.  I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a campaign as much as this since Apple’s first “I’m a mac” campaign, I did end up owning my first mac somewhere within 12 months of that campaign so who knows ;)

Playing with the iPhone SDK

I’ve been getting grips with the iPhone SDK since October 2009, other then my personal work I’ve not had an opportunity to build an app for anyone up until recently.  Not sure I can say much on it now though, but I’ve recently setup a map based application .  Most of the application isn’t there, we just wanted to ensure we could retrieve and use the data via a JSON object.  No problem using the JSON class.

Also one of our clients at Design Motive would like to have an app based on their website, so fingers crossed that goes ahead!

chinesekungfu.co.uk

I currently study wing chun in Wimbledon under Si fu Leo Au Yeung, he has a admirable amount of knowledge in the martial arts and has trained directly under Grand Master Ip Chun, so to the legendary Ip Man.  So I am in safe hands :D

He knows I’m a web developer by trade, he’s asked me to come up with some ways to help improve their current site, particular in SEO.  We’ll see if his web person implements the changes, but I’d like to involve myself further if opportunities permits.

The Square Restaurant launch their new website

I’ve built another website at Design Motive, The Square Restaurant in London Mayfair are now using DotNetNuke to manage their daily menu’s online.  I’ve made good use of CSS and JQuery to allow editors to literally copy and paste the content prepared from their Word template into the DNN editor, no use for 3rd party modules, just my front-end scripting :p

Steadily making efficient DotNetNuke sites, looking forward to continuous improvements on the CMS since that’s what we’re stuck with, having said that it’s not bad at all.

Site looks great too, I’m so bias at times!

The Vitec Group launch their new website

I’ve recently built the new website for The Vitec Group, bias it may be but it’s a nice design and we managed to pull off with DotNetNuke.  This is the first website I’ve worked on as lead developer at Design Motive so it’s been a good project to demonstrate what I can do.  Definitely getting more comfortable with DNN, deadlines still mean I have to work around certain bits but overall it looks good, and the clients have given positive feedback as far as using the website goes.  I think it helps that the Telerik editor holds more advantages over FCKEditor, they both can be tricky to master though!

First entry!

..Actually that’s not technically accurate, I had a few entries but I wasn’t going anywhere with them, I mean who cares if my site is W3C compliant?

I’ll be blogging about my multimedia projects and other stuff that revolves around my working life, that’s about it.  Enjoy!
